Commemorative First Day postal cover issued February 22, 1982, marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of George Washington (1732–1982).
This cover was produced as part of the Official Louisiana Lodge No. 102 F. & A.M. (New Orleans) Founding Father Cachet Series and features a Mount Vernon, Virginia First Day of Issue postmark.
The reverse identifies the cachet as designed by J.R. Allen of Richmond, Virginia.
The envelope is printed on textured stock and includes the original informational insert issued with the cover.
Released during the national Washington Bicentennial observances, this piece reflects both historical and Masonic recognition of Washington in the anniversary year.
The cover and insert are preserved in a protective archival sleeve with backing support.
