Commemorative First Day postal cover issued February 22, 1982, marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of George Washington (1732–1982).
This cover features an Official Grand Encampment, Knights Templar – U.S.A. souvenir cachet and is postmarked at George Washington Birthplace Station, Washington’s Birthplace, Virginia on the First Day of Issue.
The reverse identifies the cachet as produced by J.R.’s Memorabilia, a licensed U.S. Postal Service cachet designer. The design includes the Houdon bust of Washington, used courtesy of the Yorktown Bicentennial Committee.
Issued during the national Washington Bicentennial observances, the cover reflects the historical and Masonic recognition of Washington during the 250th anniversary year.
Preserved in clean condition and stored in a protective archival sleeve with backing support.
