James Monroe

5th President of the United States • Brother in Masonry

This historic portrait shirt honors James Monroe, the fifth President of the United States and a Brother Freemason whose life remains closely connected to Fredericksburg, Virginia.

After serving as President from 1817–1825, Monroe retired to Virginia, where his legacy remains deeply tied to the region’s early American history. His Masonic apron is preserved today in the James Monroe Museum in Fredericksburg, only a short distance from Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4.

This design presents Monroe in a museum-style portrait format, paired with the Square and Compasses — the enduring emblem of Freemasonry.

Part of the Brothers in Masonry Series, this shirt honors historic figures whose lives shaped both the United States and the Masonic fraternity.
